Key Benefits of the CM-7M® Military Gas Mask
Roman’s Take
To help our customers make the right purchasing decision, I like to share a bit of product history, along with a summary of the benefits and limitations, based on my personal experience and direct feedback from users.
The CM-7M® is the civilian designation of the OM-90, which is the current military issue mask for the Czech Armed Forces. It is not a "civilian version" in the sense of being downgraded or simplified. It is the same platform, produced in the same factory, to the same standards, by the same manufacturer. MIRA Safety® holds a special license from the Czech government that allows us to offer new-production units directly to civilians worldwide.
One of the biggest reasons people choose the CM-7M® is how well it performs with rifles and optics. Most full-face respirators make long-gun use a chore. This one gives you a natural cheek weld and proper eye relief across a wide variety of setups. If you train with rifles, you feel the difference immediately. It also looks like something a movie villain would wear, and yes, that matters. Intimidation is a real factor when things get serious, and this mask has it in spades.
A practical advantage is its shared component ecosystem. The CM-7M® uses the same valves, microphone systems, and core parts as the CM-6M® and CM-8M®. For groups or families running different MIRA masks, this makes spare parts planning much simpler and keeps long-term maintenance predictable.
Comfort is another area where the CM-7M® surprises people. The internal airflow and drainage system works extremely well in hot conditions. One of the most common complaints with other masks is sweat pooling in the chin area during extended wear. The CM-7M® drains efficiently, which makes a noticeable difference during high-heat, high-activity use.
The dual-lens design cannot match the panoramic field of view provided by masks like the CM-8M® or the C21®. Most users find the visibility more than adequate for their needs, but it is not a wraparound view. The lenses are made from silicate glass for optical clarity, not impact absorption. That makes this mask a poor fit for riot control or law enforcement work where blunt-force impacts and de-escalation optics matter. Put simply: if your job involves calming people down, showing up looking like Darth Vader's stunt double is not going to help.
I also want to address the OM-90 surplus masks that sometimes show up on the secondary market. They may look like a bargain, but they come with unknown storage conditions, unknown origins, missing components, and no guarantee on their service life. Some are expired. Some were never stored properly. Some were never meant for civilian sale in the first place. Rubber degrades. Seals crack. A mask that sat in a warehouse for twenty years is not the same mask that rolled off the line. I do not recommend gambling on something with that many question marks when your life is what's at stake. This is why we only offer new-production CM-series masks sourced directly under our license.
So who is the CM-7M® for? Military users. Preparedness-oriented civilians. Anyone who plans to use a rifle while masked. Anyone who wants a protective platform with real service history behind it rather than something experimental or cosmetic. If you want a mask that is proven, durable, and still one of the strongest overall values at this level of protection, the CM-7M® continues to stand out year after year.

The CM-7M® military gas mask meets the EN 136 (Class III) and EN 148-1 standards and is available in three sizes, providing a perfect fit for practically any user. A NATO-standard filter canister can be mounted on either side of the military gas mask to make it easier to aim a gun whether right- or left-handed.
The material of the facepiece (bromobutyl rubber) on this CM-7M® military gas mask provides extraordinary protection against all known chemical warfare agents, along with biological, nuclear, radiological, and industrial chemical agents.
This tactical military gas mask is designed to withstand long-term use in any weather conditions. The inner mask features a comfortable hypoallergenic construction that reduces the content of carbon dioxide in the mask and regulates the flow of inhaled air to prevent fogging for more comfortable all-day use.
The full face respirator's inhalation chambers on this army gas mask are fitted with the Rd 40 x 1/7” thread in accordance with the EN 148-1 (NATO) standard. This ensures compatibility with the widest range of filters readily available on the market today.
These professional-grade gas masks are manufactured under the permanent supervision of a representative of the Czech Ministry of Defense and are trusted by military and police users in a wide variety of countries.
The lenses of the CM-7M® CBRN gas mask are specifically crafted to ensure compatibility with all kinds of optical devices while providing a sufficient field of vision. The dual lens configuration provides superior depth perception when compared to a single panoramic faceplate, making it ideal for use with iron sights or in combat.
The CM-7M® military standard gas mask is equipped with a drinking system that enables safe drinking in contaminated areas. The drinking system is also compatible with CamelBak hydration systems.
CM-7M® Military Gas Mask Service Life
The storage and service life of the CM-7M® full face military gas mask is 20 years from the date of production, provided that the recommended storage conditions are observed.
MIRA Safety CM-7M® Gas Mask Size Chart
| Size No. | Facial height (nose bridge – chin) | Width of the face (bizygomatic width) |
|---|---|---|
| Size 1 | 108 – 120 mm | 125 – 140 mm |
| Size 2 | 120 – 128 mm | 140 – 148 mm |
| Size 3 | 128 – 138 mm | 148 – 156 mm |
To size yourself, it would require a device called a faciometer which is not very common.
Size 2 (medium) fits 95% of the population, so if you're an average size person, we would suggest size 2. For smaller than average people who weigh 130lb or less, with thin faces, we would suggest size 1 (small). For users over 250 lbs and wide faces, go with large.
You will know the size is right if you do a negative pressure test (blocking the inhalation valve and taking a deep breath), and the mask seals tightly to your face.
Please Note: Gas mask filters are NOT included. Please make sure to choose the appropriate size on the drop-down menu.
