A half-face air-purifying respirator (APR) covers the nose and mouth, sealing against the lower face while leaving the eyes exposed for use with goggles, ballistic eyewear, or optics. It sits between unprotected breathing and a full-face mask in the respiratory protection hierarchy, offering a lighter, lower-profile platform for users who need filtered air but do not face eye-irritating threats or blistering agents. In Europe, half-face respirators are certified to EN 140, the standard that governs facepiece construction, leakage, and durability, while full-face gas masks fall under the stricter EN 136. All MIRA Safety® half-face platforms are compatible with 40mm NATO threaded filters.
